The Zonta Club of Lincoln held their fifth meeting of the 2019-2020 year on Tuesday, January 14, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church catered by Peggy’s Bakery. This month, the Club celebrated Amelia Earhart Day on January 11. This date, selected by Zonta International, is celebrated each year in recognition of the day Zontian and famed aviator Amelia Earhart began her 2,408-mile trip from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Oakland, California. This trip made her the first person to fly solo to the United States mainland from Hawaii, as well as the first person to have flown across both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Every year, the Club commemorates her contributions to the aerospace industry and her empowerment of women in science.
