Message from Governor – December, 2019

2019 District Conference

On September 20 – 22 was held in Indianapolis, In. We conducted our district business and also celebrated the 100th anniversary of Zonta. There were about 110 Zontians form all over the District as well as our International guest Christina Bergqvist.

As we pulled into the hotel parking lot, we were greeted by an 18 wheeler with the Just Say No wrapped around it. The dinner was started by presentation of the colors by a Jr ROTC group made up of all girls from a local high school. They then joined us for dinner, what a great way for them to be mentored by our group.

We carried out our business with the election of the upcoming board of directors
and passed a budget for the next biennium. We then had an open forum where
Christina was brave enough to take on any and all questions. For some of our
younger members this was great education about Zonta. It was also a learning
experience for Christina as well.

We met our District 6 International Young Women in Public Affairs and learned
about her plans.

On Sunday the conference ended with an invitation to next year’s Convention and
next year’s conference which will be in Joliet. Sundays hi light was Tammy giving
us an up date on her trip and ZI project Learning Madagascar.
