The Zonta International Foundation also sponsors three sponsorships for women:  The Young Women in Public Affairs award, The Jane M. Klausman Scholarship for women in business and The Amelia Earhart Fellowship program promoting women pursuing Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences and engineering.  More information is available at Zonta.org.

“Zonta” is derived from a Lakhota (Teton Dakota), a language of the Native-American Sioux peoples, word meaning honest and trustworthy. It was adopted in 1919 to symbolize the combined qualities of honesty and trust, inspiration and the ability to work together for service and world understanding.

The Zonta rose is now available on the international flower market as an international symbol of advancing the status of women.
