2024 JANE M. KLAUSMAN SCHOLARSHIP

The Zonta Club of Frankfort is now accepting applications for the 2024 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. One $1000 award will be offered. The scholarship is offered to a woman meeting the following criteria:
  • A Clinton County Indiana resident
  • Be attending an accredited university/college/institution
  • Be enrolled in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a master’s program at the time the application is submitted to the Zonta Club of Frankfort
  • Be attending school at the time the schlarship funds are disbursed and must not graduate before April 2025
  • Achieve an outstanding academic record during her academic studies, including business subjects
  • Please visit the Zonta International website (www.zonta.org) for additional information regarding eligibility / requirements.
  • Completed application due no later than July 26, 2024
The recipient of the Zonta Club of Frankfort’s $1000 scholarship will advance to the Zonta district level, where one applicant will be selected for consideration for one of 37 Zonta International scholarships of $5,000 each. 
Applications must be completed electronically and submitted via email by 11:59 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2024. An applicant must print, sign, and scan page 3 of the application or insert an image of her signature prior to emailing as a PDF to: slbarr52@yahoo.com

ANNUAL MEETING – May 17th

During our Annual Meeting held at the Angry Donkey Restaurant in Michigantown, several presentations were made with the first being recognition of our 2024 YWPA Award winner, Michaela Jacobs from Clinton Central.  Michaela received a $1000 award from the Zonta Club of Frankfort and her application has been forwarded to District 6 for further consideration for an additional award of $5000 from Zonta International.  We wish Michaela good luck at the district level!  

We also recognized our Zontians for reaching five-year milestones in their membership and service to the Club. Those members were: Carolyn Dunham & Marlene Brant – 40 years; Jeni Royalty – 35 years; Jenny Neal & Sharon Keck – 30 years; Kim Dahmen – 10 years; Linda Uitts, Rachel Milburn, & Tina Kimmel – 5 years.

Note: Club members have over 480 years of service to the Clinton County community!

The evening included the initiation of Andrea Sheese as a member. Andrea works for the City of Frankfort, serving as Administrative Assistant to Mayor Judy Sheets, also a fellow Zontian!

Installation of the 2024/2026 Board was also conducted: Rachel Milburn – President; Jeni Royalty – Vice President; Secretary – Sharon Keck; Treasurer – Bethany Sheets; Dana Myers – Past-President & Linda Uitts – Directors. Directors continuing their service are June Palmer, Nancy Harshbarger, and Susie Trees. 

AREA 4 SPRING MEETING/WORKSHOP – April 20th

As host of our Area 4 / Indiana Meeting/Workshop this year, we welcomed fellow Zontians from the Indianapolis and Lebanon Clubs, along with district officers and chairs as guest speakers from other clubs within District 6 (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin). Reports during the meeting included those on Zonta International / District 6 activities and memberhsip data given by Governor Cheryl Trudeau and Lt. Governor Isabel Vidal, respectively. District 6 Leadership Development Chair Yvonne Chalfant provided informaton on leadership and training opportunities and Foundation Ambassador Jeni Royalty updated attendees on the current biennium’s fundraising goals, international service projects, and educational programs. Workshop topics included Leadership, Membership/Diversity, and Zonta Spirit.

We met at the Frankfort Community Public Library and enjoyed a day of fellowship and learning, as well as a fantastic lunch prepared by Shoup’s Country Foods!

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT EVENT – March 13th

This event brought potential new members to Old Stoney to learn about Zonta, which included an overview of our international organization and programs, district and area structure and activities, as well as what our club does locally. Delicious snacks were provided by the Membership Committee and others, and all attendees enjoyed visiting! Two attendees decided to become members and we are very excited to have them join us!

CHICKEN NOODLE DINNER & COUNTRY STORE – March 9th

Our 31st annual major fundraiser dinner at the Edward Jones Building at the Clinton County Fairgrounds offered both carryout and dine-in options. And, as always, was accompanied by our famous Country Store offering sweet treats and handmade goods for everyone to explore! From angel food cakes to pies and beyond, this has become a must-see part of the event every year.

The funds raised at the event help support the various Zonta scholarships and local organizations.

Thanks to all for making this year’s Chicken Noodle Dinner and Country Store a success!


 

FUN FELLOWSHIP EVENT – February 28th

Zonta members attended “Game Night” at Paul Phillippe Resource Center, enjoying a variety of delicious, sandwiches, snacks, and desserts while discovering a bit about how fellow Zontians think. The game “Loaded Questions” prompts players to write down their answer to various questions, then others try to guess who answered what!
