February Program – folds wings – “Hope for Justice”
HOPE FOR JUSTICE is an organization that works in the USA, UK, Ethiopia and Uganda to bring freedom from human trafficking and modern slavery by identifying victims, supporting survivors and preventing exploitation. They are helping victims and survivors all around the world. This work is only possible because of a growing global movement of ordinary people who support this life-changing work in many different ways. One way that Hope For Justice helps is their logo, a red swallow. A swallow returns to its nesting place – just as HFJ wants to help survivors return to their families.
Program Co-chair Anna Weselak led a brief, but memorable workshop in which our members made red swallows using Origami to create a tangible symbol from another living human who cares about them. We wrote short encouraging messages within the folds of the paper birds. We also collected cash donations to accompany the paper swallows and messages.
